“ Social networking is about people engaging with people. Individuals do not want to build relationships with brands and corporations. They want to talk to other people. „

Harsh Truths About Corporate Websites (via Jared Moran) (via marco) (via mikehudack)

Maybe it’s because I’m in branding… but I don’t think this is entirely true. When brands can provide something back to the consumer, let’s say a useful service— on that social networking platform they love— then I think consumers enjoy building a relationship.

For example- BustedTees is a brand with an app on one of my favorite social networking sites, Facebook— I’m totally down with spreading the word about BustedTees and building a relationship with them. I want to hear about their new shirts first and I want to be the one telling my friends about the awesome designs, not hearing it from others.
