Banksy has done an interview with the Sunday Times, which is an interesting read:
“I have a large collection of famous art at home, but they’re all fakes. I make them myself. If I like a picture I grab a photo, project it up and paint it. Sometimes I change the colours to fit with the curtains. I do it partly because I’m tight and partly because if the Basquiats and Picassos in the sitting room were real I’d be too scared to ever leave the house.
“I don’t make as much money as people think. The commercial galleries that have held exhibitions of my paintings are nothing to do with me. And I certainly don’t see money from the T-shirts, mugs and greeting cards. My lawyer calls me ‘the most infringed artist alive’ and wants me to do something about it. But if you’ve built a reputation on having a casual attitude towards property ownership, it seems a bit bad-mannered to kick off about copyright law.”
oh hai, i have pink hair :D

Tropicana bring the Sun to Arctic Canada - and drive people to their Facebook Page
love this - love the idea, the set-up, the execution and the ad that came from it (esp the background music).
just makes me feel happy all over!
thanks @njhenderson for sharing!
one of the coolest things about social media is that the platforms are created to be inherently social (duh, i know) - but what that actually means is that creative people, like ed hamilton above, can use these platforms as technology and not forms.
most of us use platforms as a formulated publishing platform in the sense that we fill it out and go. here’s an example of someone going beyond the intended use, and instead figuring out a creative way to use the technology behind the platform.
nice work, ed. :)
it’s about time someone wrote this story! “ Mr. Sheidlower said the evolution of meaning and interpretation is natural for language. He considers it entirely possible that a younger generation growing up online might understand “like” to mean something different than older folks do. “People are posting very heartfelt feelings on these social sites, and the option is to either like it or comment,” he said. “I don’t think it changes the meaning of the word, but there is a disjunct that is happening here, and it forces you to think of the word that is pointing to a story and not necessarily the content within it.” “Like” clearly isn’t the only word that is seeing a change to its context or understanding. We are starting to perceive the word “friend” differently, too, thanks to social networking services.”
(my mouth is watering!)
